Buckingham Senior Living – Ch. 11 Bankruptcy – Free Claim Evaluation
Buckingham Senior Living Community, Inc. (“The Buckingham”) operates a senior living facility in Houston, Texas. On June 25, 2021, The Buckingham filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Many of The Buckingham’s former residents are owed substantial refunds ($100,000 or more) for the return of entrance fees and other amounts they paid to The Buckingham prior to the bankruptcy. These refunds may not be paid if proper steps are not taken in the bankruptcy proceeding before the deadline set by the court. Any former resident of The Buckingham who believes they are owed a refund should take action immediately. Former residents who fail to act prior to the deadline set by the court may not receive any of the refunds they are owed.

The Buckingham Bankruptcy | Do You Have A Claim?
The Buckingham filed bankruptcy due to the financial pressures caused by Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and the COVID-19 Pandemic. According to its bankruptcy petition, The Buckingham owed over $30 million to residents in contingent care entrance refunds. It plans to continue operations by raising approximately $160 million in new bond debt, with some of these funds to be used to refund amounts due to former residents.
The deadline for entrance fee refund claims is set for 9/17/21 and rapidly approaching. Former residents who are owed refunds may not receive any money if they do not act soon.
If you or a loved one has been listed as an unsecured creditor that is owed money by The Buckingham, it does not mean that you have been sued, and you are not required to take any action. However, failure to take any action means you or your loved one may not recover any money at all at the conclusion of the bankruptcy proceeding.

Yes. Please call us or use our contact form to request a Free Case Evaluation. We have a national team of attorneys and staff who look forward to speaking with you.
Typically, we represent clients on contingency fee agreements. If we take your case under a contingency fee arrangement, you won’t owe our firm any legal fees unless we are able to recover money for you.
Our contingency fee agreements are usually based on a percentage of the amount we recover for our clients. The contingency fee amount is determined by the type of case, our estimate of how long it will take to resolve your case, and our estimate of the litigation costs we will advance in your case. Each engagement agreement includes the details of the fee arrangement. Questions about our fee agreements are welcomed and encouraged.
In most litigation matters, it is extremely difficult – practically impossible – to predict how long it will take to resolve a particular case. Every case is different, and we will do our best to provide you with an estimate based on your case and our experience with similar cases. Moreover, we will do our best to keep you updated and manage expectations along the way.
