INVOKANA LAWSUITS

Invokana lawsuits

A recent study found that patients taking Invokana have DOUBLED their risk of needing some form of toe, foot, or leg amputation compared to those not on the drug.

AMPUTATION OR DKA DIAGNOSIS?

INVOKANA® is a prescription medicine that was intended to lower blood sugar in adults with type-2 diabetes.  Merely 2 years after hitting the market, government agencies around the world started to issue warnings and advisories about the risks associated with the drug. 100% increase in Risk of Amputation and increase in risk of Diabetic Ketoacidosis.

However, Invokana and other similar drugs have been linked to serious medical conditions, serious side effects, limb amputation, ketoacidosis, and even death.  Recently, even Janssen’s own INVOKANA® website highlights that Invokana can cause:

Increased Amputation Risks: “INVOKANA® may increase your risk of lower-limb amputations. Amputations mainly involve removal of the toe or part of the foot; however, amputations involving the leg, below and above the knee, have also occurred. Some people had more than one amputation, some on both sides of the body.”

INVOKANA AMPUTATIONS | FDA ALERT ON INVOKANA

If you had to have your leg, foot, or toe amputated after taking Invokana, you may be eligible for significant compensation. If your loved one died after taking Invokana, you may have a major case against Janssen, Invokana’s manufacturer.

Some people with diabetes develop a condition known as “diabetic foot.” This condition may occur because diabetes can destroy nerve endings in the toes, feet, and lower legs. Instead of being a solution to this problem, the FDA has determined that Invokana use can double the chances of a patient needing toe, foot, and leg amputations.

In May 2017, the FDA confirmed what many medical professionals had claimed; Invokana increases the risk of foot and leg amputations.  Additionally, the FDA announced that a black box warning would be added to Invokana, the strictest penalty and warning label issued by the FDA.

INVOKANA RISKS & CONCERNS | INVOKANA LAWSUITS

Initial concerns with Invokana made headlines because of studies finding patients taking Invokana had an increased risk of kidney failure, serious urinary tract infections, and ketoacidosis. Today, Invokana headlines revolve around the most recent study from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).  Invokana is now linked to serious risks of toe, foot, and lower leg amputations. Most concerning, the study found that patients taking Invokana have DOUBLED their risk of needing some form of toe, foot, or leg amputation compared to those not on the drug. Because patients with diabetes are already at a greater risk of requiring amputation, these new findings are devastating.

If you or a loved one are taking Invokana and have experienced any numbness, tenderness or increased pain in your toes, feet, or legs, please contact your doctor immediately.  Some common causes of amputation due to diabetic conditions include gangrene, diabetic foot ulcers, and ischemia. Also, serious complications like ulcers, sores, open wounds, and infections need to be taken seriously. All of these complications and serious medical conditions are incredibly serious and can lead to amputation or result in death.  Finally, it’s never recommended to alter your prescription, drug, or medical treatment without speaking with your doctor.

FAQ

Yes. Please use our contact form to request a free case evaluation. Tell us your story, and one of our lawyers will respond to tell you if we think we can help.

We work almost all of our cases under contingent fee arrangements. If we take your case under a contingent fee arrangement, you won’t owe our firm any legal fees unless we are able to recover money for you.

Our contingent fee is either based on a percentage of the amount we recover for our client (which generally ranges from one-third of the recovery up to 40%) or the amount of work we perform on your case, multiplied by our current hourly rates. The percentage we will charge in your case depends on the type of case, when your case resolves, and whether you request us to advance litigation costs (including filing fees, postage, expert witness fees, etc.). Generally, the percentage is higher if we are advancing litigation costs and your case does not resolve early.

In most litigation matters, it is extremely difficult – practically impossible – to predict how long or how many hours will it take to resolve a particular case. Every case is different in terms of the complexity. For instance, a simple breach of contract matter is likely to get resolved significantly faster than a complicated lawsuit involving multiple parties, numerous claims, complex issues of law, and extensive discovery. The other parties’ cooperation, the attorneys’ schedules, as well as the number of other cases on the court’s docket are also the factors.
