Peiffer Wolf Carr & Kane and the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Missouri (CAIR-MO) File Nationwide Class Action Lawsuit Against Securitas

The Peiffer Wolf Carr & Kane Firm and the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Missouri filed a federal, nationwide, class-action lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, located in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 21, 2016, alleging Securitas Security Services, USA, Inc. and Securitas Security Services, Inc., commonly known simply as “Securitas,” violated Ms. Zahraa Ali’s and class members’ civil rights by discriminating against them based on their Islamic faith.

The lawsuit alleges that Securitas refused to hire the Plaintiff based on her Islamic faith. The Complaint further alleges that after Ms. Ali, a qualified candidate with six years of correctional officer experience, applied for a security position with Securitas, but was not hired due to her religious practice and beliefs. The Complaint further alleges, “Securitas actually relied on Ms. Ali’s Islamic faith as at least the determinative, and, very likely, the only factor considered prior to instructing the Recruitment Specialist to ‘Just pass on this candidate.’”

A copy of the full complaint is available on the Peiffer Wolf Carr & Kane website.

As part of the lawsuit, the Complaint requests that current and former Muslim job applicants receive monetary damages, as well as pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, attorneys’ fees, and other costs of litigation. Additionally, the Complaint requests that the case be certified as a class action and that Securitas be prevented from continuing with similar conduct in the future.
