WHAT HAPPENED?
During May 29 and 30, 2023, an unauthorized actor gained access to Wilton Reassurance Company client data. The incident took place in the MOVEit transfer tool used by the company’s third-party service provider, PBI Research Services. Upon discovery as of June 7, 2023, it was estimated the data of nearly 1.5 million people was exposed during the breach.
According to the notification provided by the Office of the Attorney General of Maine, the attackers gained access to Names and Social Security Numbers (SSNs).
